Community Initiatives
Brown County Health Support Clinic
We provide diagnosis and treatment for illnesses and health problems to uninsured residents of Brown County, Indiana, who lack access to health care.
Community health workers, community health nurses, and a certified family nurse practitioner offer a variety of services, such as:
- Taking health histories and conducting physical exams
- Testing blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar levels
- Diagnosing and treating acute and chronic illnesses and common health problems
- Prescribing medications and providing prescription assistance
- Consulting with other health care providers on behalf of patients
- Providing education for preventative health, health promotion, and wellness
Educating the community
Clinic staff members work closely with the Brown County School Corporation to address chronic health problems that are prevalent in the community. Health screenings and health promotion classes are offered to faculty, staff, and students.
Educating nursing students
The clinic offers an ideal education setting for Indiana University nursing students, who get first-hand experience in rural health and nurse-managed care. Students are integrally involved in clinic operations and work with the Clinical Community Advisory Board in guiding clinic operations.
Fees
Fees are based on a sliding-fee scale. Patients should bring proof of income ( two most recent pay stubs or most recent tax return) on the first visit. Additional, nominal fees may be assessed for some testing procedures, such as blood, cholesterol, and rapid strep tests.

Hours of service
Tuesdays: 12:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Wednesdays: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Thursdays: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
