Community Initiatives
Service Learning
For future nurses, participating in community service is essential to further understand and appreciate their discipline. “Service learning” refers to community service participation as part of a course. Not only does this service help students gain further understanding of course content, it also gives them an enhanced sense of personal values and civic responsibility. Students in recent B104 courses, for example, have volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, Wheeler Mission Ministries' Center for Women & Children, The Julian Center, and the Midwest Food bank.
