Virtual Classroom Software Requirements

NOTE: Most software required for IU students may be downloaded free of charge from IUWare Online.

Operating System

• Windows 7 (the preferred Windows operating system at IU)
• Windows Vista (Enterprise or Ultimate) or XP Professional
• Mac OS X version 10.6 (Snow Leopard) or greater

Internet Connection/Bandwidth

• Broadband (school or corporate local area network, DSL, or cable)
• Connection capable of supporting 256 Kbps download AND upload speeds with little latency (delay between an occurrence and when you are aware of the occurrence)
• NOTE: satellite Internet connections have too much latency to be effective in virtual classrooms

Browser

• Internet Explorer, version 7 or 8
• Firefox, version 3 and newer

Other Software

• Flash Player, version 8 or later
• Movi
